Can I use anti-smoking pill while taking Duromine

Smoking does not directly provoke weight gain; same as smoking cessation does not cause weight loss.

Weight loss during smoking cessation most likely occurs because of complex change in the life style. Sometimes, people, who quit smoking, can gain a few kilograms, but soon their body weight becomes normal again.

Obese people, who use weight loss drug Duromine, keep asking if they can take anti-smoking pills during anti-obesity drug therapy. Safety and efficiency clinical trials of Duromine combined with anti-smoking pills have not been conducted. Therefore, one can assume that Duromine does not reduce the effectiveness of anti-smoking medications.

Few trials show that many people lose weight after they quit smoking. Herewith when using anti-smoking pills, one must pay attention to the active substance, which helps to abandon tobacco. In case antidepressant Bupropion or partial agonist of nicotine receptors Varenicline is the active substance of anti-smoking drugs, one should not take Duromine capsules.

Duromine is contraindicated for use in combination with tricyclic antidepressants, and Bupropion is a tricyclic antidepressant. A joint use of Duromine and anti-smoking pills, containing Bupropion may cause an increase in adrenergic stimulation. As a result, the risk of high blood pressure, tachycardia and arrhythmia increases. Therefore, when people take Duromine capsules they should not use oral anti-smoking drug, which contains tricyclic antidepressant Bupropion.

Anti-smoking pills, containing Varenicline, can block effects of nicotine, reducing cravings and withdrawal syndrome. Therapeutic effect of Varenicline occurs by acting on the central nervous system (CNS). Varenicline blocks the brain receptor, which is responsible for pleasure from nicotine, resulting in decreased nicotine cravings.

Anorexigenic effect of Duromine is provided through action on the CNS. Taking weight loss drug Duromine along with medication, affecting the CNS, increases the risk of side effects from the CNS (irritability, anxiety, depression, mania and insomnia). Therefore, the application of anti-smoking drug Varenicline together with Duromine diet pills is contraindicated.

If person decided to quit smoking by the help of oral anti-smoking drugs that contain Bupropion or Varenicline as the active substance, it is recommended to consult the doctor. Especially if person takes Duromine diet capsules. It is quite possible that the doctor will recommend terminating the anti-obesity therapy with Duromine and starting using anti-smoking pills after that.

If smoking causes greater harm to the body, than extra weight does, it is recommended to quit smoking first and then begin the anti-obesity therapy with Duromine. Either way, a joint use of anti-smoking drug (Bupropion or Varenicline active substance) and Duromine is contraindicated.
